Does your hair never seem to grow past your shoulders? Is your hair dry? Is it brittle and breaking and generally not in the best condition.

Did you know that Wigs, Extensions, and Weaves combined with a good hair care regime can help you grow your hair to amazing lengths!

The key to growing your hair is to make sure it is well looked after underneath the extension of your choice so it doesn’t break and retails length.

Our average hair growth rate is 0.5 inches per months which adds up to 6 inches a year if we can retain all the new growth!

Here are our top tips for growing your hair while in extensions

  • Before braiding the hair either in cornrows or single plaits its essential to make sure that the hair is well MOISTURISED. Some people automatically think of “Hair Grease” when the word moisturise is mentioned but the truth is Greases and Oils don’t actually moisturise the hair, they only coat the outside of the hair shaft giving the appearance of moisturised hair. We recommend using a WATER BASED moisturiser such as LUSTERS S-CURL ACTIVAOR/MOISTURISER. Water based moisturisers actually penetrate the hair shaft and moisturise the hair from within.
  • After the moisturiser is applied it’s then important to SEAL IN THE MOISTURE so it’s trapped in the hair shaft. We recommend using natural oils on the hair to do this. Try an organic COCONUT OIL, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL or AVOCADO OIL to do this. It’s important to remember not to apply oil to hair that hasn’t been moisturised as this will seal out the moisture and lead to dry breaking hair.
  • DEEP CONDITION the hair every time it is washed. Using a deep conditioner especially formulated for Dry or Damaged hair. After the hair is shampooed towel dry it and apply the conditioner and cover with a plastic cap, it’s then advisable to sit underneath a heat source for the minimum of 30 minutes. Rinse out and follow with LEAVE IN CONDITIONER
  • AVOID BLOW-DRYNG the hair where ever possible. Where you can either air dry the hair or dry it in rollers. Blow-drying the hair can dry the hair and cause breakage.
  • NO BRUSHING. Avoid brushes at all costs! They literally rip hair off your head causing your hair to thin. Comb only when necessary and only ever use a WIDE TOOTH COMB.
  • STRETCH RELAXERS. Regular relaxing can lead to thin, dry and breaking hair. There is NO NEED to relax your hair every 6 weeks. Try to stretch your relaxers for a minimum of 10 weeks. This will help your hair thicken up and have more body. Also when you do relax make sure you process the new growth only, coat the previously relaxed hair in oil or conditioner so the relaxer cannot damage it.

Your hair can grow!

For motivation why don’t you take a picture of your hair as it is today and take care of it for 6 months. Then take another picture and you’ll be amazed how much of a better condition your hair is!
